Camp 46 meets the 2nd Monday of each month except July and August. The meeting location is Mary Mac's Tea Room on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta. Meeting schedule is as follows: Scheduled meetings: October 10, 2011 - We will have a a roundtable discussion on our Camp namesake, Georgia's own John B. Gordon; a man about whom Theodore Roosevelt commented, "A more gallant, generous, and fearless gentleman and soldier has not been seen by our country." November 14, 2011 - Our guest speaker will be Fletcher Thompson, a former Georgia state senator and member of Congress from 1966 to 1972, representing Georgia's 5th District. Mr. Thompson is also a past commander of the WWII Roundtable. Mr. Thompson was a flight navigator on US Navy PBY-5A amphibians during WWII. He will tell us about his service carrying out submarine patrols and air/sea rescues in the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. December 12, 2011 - Our guest speaker will be Dr. Brian Wills, Director of the Center for the Study of the Civil War Era at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Wills is a professor of history at KSU and author of several books relating to the WBTS, including a biography of Nathan Bedford Forrest. Dr. Wills will discuss General Forrest and tell us why, in writing his biography, he found that while "[t]here is much to dislike about Nathan Bedford Forrest; there is also a good deal to admire." January 9, 2012 - Happy New Year. We begin the second year of the WBTS sesquicentennial. We do not have a guest speaker scheduled, allowing our members to fellowship after the holidays. February 13, 2012 - Our guest speaker will once again be Dr. Brian Wills, Director of the Center for the Study of the Civil War Era at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Wills will be discussing the War of 1812. This war was an important conflict in the history of the fledgling United States, coming less than 30 years after the end of the Revolution.
